Materials

Titanium alloy has an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, natural corrosion resistance, and springy stiffness—ideal for thin, tough pegs that don’t easily bend.

The rainbow colour isn’t paint. It’s created by anodising, which grows an ultra-thin titanium-oxide layer on the metal. Different film thicknesses refract light at different wavelengths—so you see shifting purples, golds, and greens. Because the colour is part of the surface oxide, it won’t flake off (though it can scratch with heavy use).

Field note: As with any metal peg, extreme side impacts on rock can damage or snap the tip. Drive pegs at ~45° and avoid hammering directly on sharp stones when possible.
